Yet another 4,200 new HDB flats have been launched, bringing the total to at least a whooping 12,400 for 2011. Are more expected for 2012?
The Housing & Development Board (HDB) has launched another 4,200 new flats in seven build-to-order (BTO) projects, following its bumper launch of 8,200 flats just two months ago. The latest launch offers new flats in Bedok, Bukit Panjang, Hougang, Punggol and Yishun. At least 95 per cent of the flat supply (excluding the studio apartments) will be set aside for first-timer households.
Thursday’s launch brings the total number of BTO flats offered in 2011 to 25,200 units. HDB will offer another 25,000 BTO units in 2012, it said. In Jan 2012, for example, 3,890 new flats will be offered for sale in Choa Chu Kang, Punggol, Sengkang and Tampines. The projects offered yesterday are:
- Acacia Breeze in Yishun
- Fajar Spring in Bukit Panjang
- Golden Cassia in Bedok
- Hougang Capeview and Hougang Dewcourt in Hougang
- Waterway Banks and Waterway Ridges in Punggol.
Analysts said that the two projects in Punggol, which are located near a scenic waterway, are likely to be the most popular. But much of the urgent pent-up demand from homebuyers would have been met in the last few rounds of BTO launches, said PropNex Realty chief executive Mohamed Ismail. The take-up for the 4,200 new flats offered in this round of the BTO launch could set the tone for the speed of launches next year, Mr Ismail added.
